Policy has a role in supporting and encouraging sustainable travel behaviour, but gauging the level and form of intervention is complex since behaviour is influenced by many factors.
There is therefore growing interest in information and awareness campaigns aimed at influencing consumer behavior, which can encourage individuals to make choices that are better for the environment.
In CityMobil2, awareness campaigns are necessary as an integral component of the research to develop and demonstrate automated and space-efficient transport system. Specific CityMobil2 guidelines have been developed, to plan, implement, evaluate and monitor the impacts of travel awareness campaigns associated with the automated transport systems demonstration in the city case studies. The common purpose of the awareness campaigns is to address targeted audiences in the cities, to make them aware of the potential and/or already planned innovative transport solutions and of their expected benefits in the context of the city sustainable mobility plans.
